1. Types of UK Student Visas

There are two main types of UK student visas for Bangladeshi students:

A. Student Visa (Tier 4)

• For students aged 16 or older pursuing higher education.
• Valid for the duration of the course, plus additional time to stay in the UK.

B. Short-Term Study Visa

• For students taking English language courses lasting 6 to 11 months.
• Not eligible for work or visa extension.

2. UK Student Visa Requirements for Bangladeshi Students

To apply for a UK Student Visa, you need to meet the following requirements:

A. Admission to a Recognized UK Institution

• You must secure admission to a UK university or college approved by the UK Home Office.
• The institution will issue a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) number.

B. Valid Passport

• Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay.

C. CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) Letter

• The UK institution will provide this after you receive an offer and pay the deposit.

D. Financial Requirements (Proof of Funds)

• You must show enough funds to cover:
  • Tuition fees for the first year of study.
  • Living expenses (at least £1,334/month in London or £1,023/month outside London) for up to 9 months.
• Funds must be in your bank account or a parent’s account for at least 28 consecutive days before applying.

E. English Language Proficiency

• You need to prove English proficiency through:
  • IELTS for UKVI (Typically, minimum 5.5 in each band for undergraduate and 6.0+ for postgraduate).
  • MOI (Medium of Instruction) Certificate (if accepted by the university).

F. TB Test Certificate

• A Tuberculosis (TB) test certificate is required from an approved UKVI medical center.

G. Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS)

• You must pay the IHS fee to access the UK’s National Health Service (NHS).
• Annual Fee: £776 per year
• For example, a 2-year course will cost £1,552 for the full IHS payment.

H. Visa Application Fee

• The Student Visa (Tier 4) application fee is £490.
