
Malaysia Student Visa Requirements for Bangladeshi Students
Malaysia is one of the most affordable and attractive destinations for Bangladeshi students due to its high-quality education, low tuition fees, and diverse culture. To study in Malaysia, international students must obtain a Student Pass (Student Visa), issued by the Malaysian Immigration Department. Below is a step-by-step guide on the requirements and application process.
1. Types of Malaysia Student Visas
Malaysia offers only one type of student visa, known as the Student Pass, for full-time academic programs. Students cannot work part-time except with special permission from immigration.
2. Malaysia Student Visa Requirements for Bangladeshi Applicants
To apply for a Malaysian Student Pass, you need to meet the following requirements:
A. Admission to a Malaysia Higher Education Institution
- You must secure admission into a Malaysia Education Institution (MEI), which is approved by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
- The institution will issue a Visa Approval Letter (VAL) after processing your application.
B. Financial Proof
- Evidence of sufficient funds to cover tuition fees, living expenses, and return airfare.
- Bank statements, financial guarantee letters, or a sponsor’s affidavit may be required.
C. Valid Passport
- Your passport must be valid for at least 18 months from the date of visa application.
- At least two blank pages are required for visa stamping.
D. Visa Application Fees
- The total student visa processing cost varies (approximately RM 2,000 to RM 3,000 / $450 – $650), depending on the university and country of origin.
E. Passport-Sized Photographs
- Recent passport-sized photos meeting Malaysia visa photo requirements (white background, 35mm/50mm).
F. Academic Documents
- Educational certificates and transcripts (SSC, HSC, Bachelor’s if applicable).
- Standardized test scores (if required by the university).
- English Proficiency Proof – IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Medium of Instruction (MOI) certificate (if applicable).
G. Medical Check-up & Health Insurance
- All students must undergo a medical check-up and obtain a health clearance certificate from a Malaysia-approved medical center.
- Students must also have health insurance coverage while studying in Malaysia.
H. No Criminal Record Certificate
- Some institutions or courses may require a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) from Bangladesh.
I. Student Pass Approval & Visa Stamping
- Once approved, students will receive a Visa Approval Letter (VAL) from the university.
- With Visa Approval Letter(VAL), students need to obtain E-visa with reference from Malaysian High Commission in Bangladesh
- After Reaching Malaysia, university will submit student’s passport to Malaysian Immigration Department for Long Term Multiple Entry Sticker Visa.
3. Important Notes for Students
✅ Ensure that your passport is valid for at least 18 months before applying.
✅ Student Pass is only for full-time students, not for part-time courses.
✅ Students can work part-time during their study period.
✅ Students can apply for Graduate Pass after graduation to apply for jobs in Malaysia.
